Obituary: SHIRLEY “SHIRL” SMITH

Shirley “Shirl” Smith, 70, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, April 9, 2023 at her home.

The funeral service will be conducted at 12 noon on Wednesday, April 12, 2023 at Clearview Baptist Church. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends beginning at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday at the church.

Mrs. Smith was born on November 18, 1952 in Guilford County to the late Lawrence Field, Jr. and Lena Presley Field. Her life’s work was being a faithful pastor’s wife and serving her beloved church family at Clearview Baptist Church. Shirl will be remembered for her sweet spirit and loving her family and Lord fiercely.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a grandson, Samson Quate and brother, Robert Field.

Survivors include her husband of fifty-five years, Pastor Bob Smith; children, Pamela Hooker (Keith) and Kimberly Quate (Eddie); grandchildren, Bobby Hooker (Kortney), Terry Hooker (Emily), Charity Hooker, Dawn Quate, Kristina Quate and Savannah Quate; great-grandchildren, Justin “Bubbie” Malloy, Destiny Quate, Benjamin Quate, Jaxson Milstead, Jaden Quate, Kaleigh Mae Hooker and Karoline Hooker; brothers and sisters, Johnny Smith (Carol), Bill Smith (Cindy), Benny Smith (Sharon), Larry Field, Bill Field and Tansie.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Clearview Baptist Church, 149 Station Road, Mayodan, NC 27027 and/or Hospice of the Piedmont, 1801 Westchester Drive, High Point, NC 27262.

Colonial Funeral Home in Madison is serving the family.
