Obituary: FRANCES BURKETT LOFTIS

Frances Burkett Loftis, 85, of Madison, NC received her heavenly wings on Wednesday, February 8, 2023, leaving her loving husband, Tim, and children, Mary (Tony) Roe, Margaret Lawson, Ida Yow, Steve (Rhonda) Burkett, Danny (Linda) Conaway; daughter-in-law, DeeDee Burkett; step-children, Marvin Loftis and Michael (Linda) Loftis; brother, Charlie (Carol) Conaway, 17 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends who loved her dearly.

The funeral service will be conducted at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, February 11, 2023 at Summerfield Baptist Temple, 7904 Winfree Road, Summerfield with Reverend Rick Church and Reverend Bobby Wilmoth officiating. Burial will follow in Westminster Gardens in Greensboro. The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Friday at Colonial Funeral Home in Madison.

Frances was a longtime member of Summerfield Baptist Temple Church where she taught Sunday School Class and the Awana Youth Program. She grew up a daughter of a tobacco farmer and worked hard all her life. Throughout the years, she was employed by Kayser-Roth, NW Guilford High School Cafeteria, and eventually retired from Echo Labs. After retirement, she went back to work at Maxway where she was able to demonstrate her love for people.

Frances was preceded in death by her late husband, James Burkett; sons, Jim and Bruce Burkett; parents, John and Fannie Conaway; brothers, John, James, Paul, and Larry Conaway; sisters, Polly Thorpe, Lou Sheppard, Hazel Pridgen, and granddaughter, Danielle Conaway.

Special thanks to her caregivers Caroline Dalton and the AuthoraCare Team, Debbie Garner, Regina Clark, Jessica Garrett, and Bryan Siefert for their loving care.
