Lorenza Scales, Sr. departed this life on Tuesday afternoon, February 7, 2023.
As a native and resident of Rockingham County, North Carolina for the majority of his life, he attended the local public schools and was a retiree of Karastan Rug Company. Sporadically, he worked in the construction industry. In 2016, he relocated to Texas to be with his son for a brief stint until his health declined. During his leisure, he enjoyed fishing, hunting, watching western movies and National Geographic documentaries.
His parents, Beulah Reynolds Scales and James Bethel Scales, Sr.; siblings, James B. Scales, Jr., Hubert Scales, Stanford Scales, Margaret Allen, Alberta Millner, Alma Staples, Gwendolyn Watt and Lina Lyons, preceded him in death.
Survivors are: loving children, Lorenza Scales, Jr. (Chinita) and Selina Bethel (Eddie); grandchildren, Rhontae Scales, Shanika Graves and Marcus Graves; six great-grandchildren; brothers-in-law, Johnnie Allen and William Staples; other relatives and friends.
Memorial services will be conducted 1:00 p.m. Monday, February 13, 2023 from the chapel of Johnson & Sons, 115 Holderby Street, Reidsville with Brother Larry A. Settle presiding.
