Obituary: MARY LENA GANN PRIDDY

Mary Lena Gann Priddy, known by all who loved her as MaLena, left her earthly home for her heavenly home on Saturday, January 7, 2023.

     Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m.Tuesday, January 10, 2023; at Colonial Funeral Home Stokes Chapel with family receiving friends beginning at 1 p.m. Burial will follow the church cemetery.

     MaLena enjoyed many things during her 100 years and 7 months. Always living life on the go! She enjoyed farming, her family, her church, her Sandy Ridge community, and doing volunteer work.

     She was born in Rockingham County May 18, 1922, to the late Sam Gann and Emma Case Gann. Lena served as a board member for the United Fund of Stokes County and spent countless hours collecting donations. She was a member of the Ladies Republican Club and worked the voting polls for years. Lena was President of the Sandy Ridge Home Extension Club, and collector of all the good hot news which she shared by writing for the Stokes News and the Madison Messenger. Along with her late husband and many others, she was instrumental in building the Sandy Ridge Community building in 1968, which continues to serve the community. MaLena organized hundreds of blood drives and served many meals to the Ruritans and high school seniors in the community building she loved.

     In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Otha Priddy; two sisters, Sadie Tucker and Gracie Gann; two brothers, Willie and Lloyd Gann; and son-in-law, Gene Isbell

     Survivors include her daughter, Kaye P. Isbell; two sons, Junior Priddy (Janney) and Ken Priddy; grandchildren, David Priddy (Kim), Tammy Caldwell (Joey), Patrice Isbell, Paula Watkins (Gary), Terri Tysinger, Nick Isbell (Theresa); seven great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

     Special thanks to Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care for their exceptional end of life care.

     Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or the American Cancer Society.

     Colonial Funeral Home Stokes Chapel in Sandy Ridge is serving the family.
