Rockingham County Sheriff’s Office News Release • April 3, 2025
(Wentworth, NC) – On April 1, 2025 it was reported to the Rockingham County Sheriff’s Office that a 50-year-old female had been assaulted by her live-in boyfriend on March 27, 2025 at the residence located at 7997 NC. 700 Ruffin, N.C.
The female was interviewed by HELP Incorporated as well as Rockingham County Sheriff’s Office investigators. A Protective Order (50B) was immediately obtained and warrants were taken out on the male perpetrator, 58-year-old Frank Donald Heffinger (AKA Don Caudle) of 7997 NC 700 in Ruffin, NC.
On April 2, 2025 58-year-old Frank Donald Heffinger (AKA Don Caudle) was taken into custody at his residence.
Frank Donald Heffinger has been charged with 2nd degree Kidnapping, Assault by Pointing a Gun, Discharging a Firearm Within an Enclosure to Incite Fear, and Misdemeanor Crimes of Domestic Violence. Heffinger was also served with the Protective Order (50B) and placed in the Rockingham County Detention Center with NO BOND and is scheduled to go before a Judge on April 3, 2025.
The female’s name is being withheld at this time due to safety reasons and further charges are forthcoming.
