(Eden, NC) – On Tuesday, April 18, 2023 patrol officers responded to a S. Fieldcrest Rd. residence at the request of Rockingham County EMS to assist with an unconscious 10-month-old female.
The child was treated on scene by EMS personnel and then transported to UNCR for further treatment. The child’s stay at UNCR was short before being transferred to Brenner’s for further testing, observation and assessment. The child remained in the intensive care unit in “critical but stable” condition 24 hours and his still receiving medical treatment.
On Thursday April 21, 2023 after a thorough investigation. The mother of the child, Athena Ashley Lynn Peet and the grandmother, Linda Michelle Peet were both charged and arrested for Felony Child abuse.
Athena Ashley Lynn Peet, 32 years old, of Eden North Carolina was charged with child abuse resulting in serious physical injury (F). Athena Peet was issued a $25,000 secured bond and is scheduled to appear in Rockingham County District Court on 05-04-2023.
Linda Michelle Peet, 55 years old, of Eden North Carolina was charged with child abuse resulting in serious physical injury (F). Linda Peet was issued a $5,000 secured bond and is scheduled to appear in Rockingham County District Court on 05-04-2023.
