James Curtis “Pete” Broadnax departed this life on Saturday morning, January 20, 2024.
As a native and lifelong resident of Rockingham County, North Carolina, he attended the local public schools and was a graduate of Booker T. Washington High School, Class of 1956. Following many years of laboring, he retired from the Sears Corporation and was presently employed by Universal Protective Services. Spiritually, he was a member of Catacomb Baptist Church where he served with the Board of Deacons and was a former member of Sandy Level Lodge No. 274 F&AM (PHA). Being an avid sportsman, he enjoyed wrestling, baseball (favorite team – Los Angeles Dodgers) and watching NCIS on television.
His parents, Willie Mae Courts Broadnax and Granville Broadnax; beloved wife, Betty Scales Broadnax; sister, Betty Broadnax Henderson, preceded him in death.
Survivors are: wife, Gari Ann Hampton Broadnax; daughters, Debra Broadnax Price (De), Patricia Broadnax Riddle, Cynthia Diane Reese, Tina Broadnax, Sandra Hampton, Joanne Jackson and Jane Hampton; sons, Steven James Hampton, Jeff Hampton and Joey Hampton; sisters, Judy Gordon (Teddy), Patricia Nunley, Sandra Jones (Larry) and Carolyn Broadnax; brothers, John Thomas Broadnax, Robert Broadnax and Larry Darnell Broadnax; grandchildren, Corey Broadnax (Melissa), Courtney Young (Alfred), Andrea Riddle, Tyrone Turner, Marcus Turner, Faith Price, Christopher Price and Aaliyah Price; great-grandchildren, Breyona Kirkland, Ariel Bruson, Kyrie Young, Bella Turner and Morgan Bagley; sisters-in-law, Frances Brown and Hazel Dillard; brothers-in-law, William Michael Scales and Howard Henderson; special friends, Hank Petty and Virginia Scales; other relatives and friends.
